Today I received yet another call from a real estate broker in Minnesota asking to buy a TowerCam. Brokers are becoming very aware of photo technologies and how to utilize them in their own company. This guy was very savvy, almost a geek, when it came to photo technology used for marketing such as digital imaging, virtual tours, YouTube, and now TowerCams. He noted that although he likes good photographs of homes taken at ground level, 80% of the ground level shots he sees are "crap." I of course perked up when I heard that number because if 80% of a few million property pictures are crap that means there's an opportunity to re-shoot a percentage of that 80%! That's alot of shooting. There's a paradigm shift happening in the real estate when it comes to marketing and what technologies are best, and which are a waste of time and money. Ultimately it's that initial, front-view photograph that brings actual buyers in for the tours. I think the other technologies are important, but when the buyer is sitting there on the couch deciding where to go, they are most likely holding on to that opening shot on the agents flyer.
